Introduction

2017 World Educational Robot Contest (WER) Canada Open was held successfully at the Taylor Park Elementary School on October 21st, 2017. This competition was jointly organized by the Federation of World Educational Robot and Canada Youth Robotics Club (CYRC). The World Educational Robot contests were founded in 2013 and now, every year, more than 500,000 students from 30 countries participate and learn in these fun and educational STEM events. Winning teams of 2017 will be invited to the World Finals in Shanghai, China. In this year, more than 100 participants attended this fantastic and positive competition.


In the competition site, the robots created from the participants became pitmen to achieve the task about exploiting mineral, architects to constructing railway, and industrial workers to transporting cargo. These tasks illustrate the outstanding imagination and creation of participants.


CYRC is a federal registered not-for-profit organization focusing on robotics education. With experienced instructors and students serving as its core members, CYRC is committed to improving the visibility and knowledge of robotics education in Canada. CYRC went through many years of development, and then launched a series of robotic-related public education activities to the communities, public schools, private schools and non-profit charitable organization.
